Motocamp Drive privacy
Last updated 14 October 2026
Motocamp Drive is the Android Auto companion to a Motocamp account. It shows your Motocamp maps, saved routes and navigation on your car's screen. This page says what it uses and why.
Your Motocamp account
You sign in with the username or email and password of your existing Motocamp account. They are sent only to Motocamp's sign-in service for your region (New Zealand, Australia, the United States or Europe). The app keeps the sign-in session on your phone so you stay signed in. It does not create accounts and does not sell anything. You can also sign in with Google, if your Motocamp account uses it. Google then tells Motocamp's sign-in service your name and email address, and nothing more.
Your location
With your permission, the app uses your phone's precise location to show where you are, plan routes from where you are and guide you turn by turn, including when the car screen shows another app or your phone is locked during a drive. Location is used on your phone for navigation. When you plan or reroute, your start point is sent to Motocamp's route planners, as it is in the Motocamp app. Motocamp Drive does not sell or share your location with anyone else.
Maps and offline maps
Map tiles, places and routes are loaded from Motocamp's servers and the map services Motocamp uses. Offline maps you choose to download are stored on your phone and can be removed in the app at any time.
What is stored on your phone
Your sign-in session, a copy of your saved routes and your account status (so the car screen works with no signal), offline maps you download, and the app's settings. None of this is backed up to the cloud by the app. Signing out removes the session and the saved-route copy.
Diagnostics we collect
The app records what happens inside it: which screens open, whether routes get planned, navigation starting and ending, reroutes, screens that fail to open, the app closing unexpectedly, sign-in working or not, and offline map downloads. This goes to Motocamp's own server, so we can see when something does not do what it should, put it right, and answer support questions. It never records where you are, the places you look up or go to, or your routes. Your account id is stored scrambled, and we can only match it to your account to help with a support question. We keep this for 90 days, then delete it. It is not sold or shared, and never used for ads. With no signal, it waits on your phone and sends later. Phone make, model and Android version are included.
Advertising and tracking
The app shows no ads and carries no advertising trackers or outside analytics services. The diagnostics described above go only to Motocamp, nowhere else.
Security
Everything the app sends travels over encrypted connections (HTTPS).
Deleting your data
Uninstalling the app removes everything it stored on your phone. Your Motocamp account and its saved routes are part of Motocamp: you can delete your account in Motocamp under Account, which removes your data from Motocamp's servers. Every way to do it: delete your account.
